Rounding Off To Nearest 100

Rounding off To Nearest 100:

Rounding means making a number simpler but keeping its value close to what it was. The result is less accurate, but easier to use.

When we round off a number to the nearest hundred, we look at the digit in the tens place.

If the digit in the tens place is 0, 1, 2, 3 and 4 we round off the number to the same hundred.

If the digit in the tens place is 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9 we round off the number to the next hundred.

Round off the numbers to the nearest 100.:

For Example: Round 686 to the nearest 100.

Solution:

As the digit at the tens place is 8, which is greater than 5, Let us round off to the next hundred.

686 rounded to the nearest hundred is 700.
